Grandma came to spend time with us and check out the new pad. We had a great weekend. The Little Spokane river runs behind our neighborhood so we ventured out into the sun for a long walk to explore. We love all of this winter sun!

The day after Christmas my family left and took the boys with them and we got to work. Grandma came over a few days to help and we drove away four days later. Drew closed on his practice three days after we got to town. All things are going very well and Drew especially loves his 5min. commute. We love it too--more time with Dad.

Yes, I have a poker group. Kind of. This group of fabulous ladies started getting together about 10 years ago and the first time we played poker. Over the last 10 years this group has made me laugh so hard. They are all Skyline or previous Skyline employees, moms, and they are all a great time. They mean a lot to me and I will miss seeing them as often as I did. For my goodbye we played a little "poker" aka drink wine and gab.

Ben said just yesterday(Jan. 6th) "you know mom, you need to find me another playschool here like my old playschool." I do know and have been working on it, but Christopher Robin will be hard to beat. B's teachers, classmates, classroom(with playground right outside) and experience there were exactly what I imagined and hoped preschool to be for him. I've always wanted a network of friends for him, teachers that care about him, and if he learns a thing or two that is great. I have my work cut out for me to find a similar situation, wish me luck!

It has gone by in a flash that is for sure. Ben surprises us everyday and also makes us laugh and feel very loved. I tell him all the time that I love him more than the whole world, it is true and we feel so fortunate to have him in our lives.

This party made Ben SO happy, and I could not have been happier for Ben. He has been wanting a Little Gym birthday party all year and the turnout was amazing! With the move and the holiday I wanted to have his party a little early so his friends could help him celebrate--it was two hours of very organized and FUN chaos! The teachers designed the songs and activities around a fireman theme and the kids ate it up. If we could have every birthday there we would, it was easy and fun for everyone. Thanks to everyone for making Ben's 4th so special.

Party prep--and that is teacher Pele, Ben absolutely loved him at his party and he ended up being Ben's Little Gym teacher for the winter wonderland camp. We will miss Little Gym and teacher Pele.

I usually keep the blog all about the boys, but this month was a bit different. A bit bitter sweet so I know I will want pictures of our fabulous friends & family in the blog book. :)

I divert...As most of you know I've become the crazy jewelry lady ;), and I am LOVING it. I love the jewelry, the company, the company's mission and all the wonderful women I get to meet and spend time with as a result. This week I got to attend a leadership conference with our CEO and founder Jessica Herrin. She is pretty amazing. She too has two young ones and offered so many positive and encouraging thoughts on the greatest juggling act on earth--working and being a mom. She encouraged me to not only love what I do but love how I do it too.

and we are living it up! Although we are about to embark on our biggest adventure yet, I still want the best December, the best birthday, and the best holidays for my boys. The advent calendar is up and was started on Dec. 4th this year(trying to do it all means a slight delay at times). Rudy has magically shown up again this year and the boys love his company. Our annual trip to Chubby & Tubby didn't disappoint. Ben got to help pick out our perfect tree and he got his free candy cane! At times I've thought the timing of this move is not good, but it is actually perfect. December is the month to be with friends and family everyday, which is just the way I like it. It is a chance to be with all of those we love in Seattle.

After everyone left we did nothing, we were exhausted. We lounged in our pjs, set up the Santa train and Christmas Village(the boys could not get enough of either!), watched the Apple Cup, and chatted about our wonderful week.

Thanksgiving--All thirteen of us stayed with my parents. It was a bit National Lampoonesque at times, but I've secretly always wanted that type of holiday gathering. My cousin Annie and her family all came from Texas and Tim and Megan came from NYC too. The boys got to play with their "cousins" which was a total treat. At Target the other day I told Ben I needed some tape, he said "my cousin's name is Tayte mom...and I miss her." The adults all had plenty of bonding time too, over plenty of wine. The first few days I tried to get the boys to nap and go to bed on time, but quickly learned that was an unwanted battle. So I gave up and dived in to the holidays. Bring it on holidays--we are ready to enjoy!

The Talent Show--first find the perfect Bieber song, Tayte sings and dances, and the boys run in circles around her. No picture but the next act was Ian and his top ten jokes. My personal favorite: friendship is like peeing in your pants...everyone can see it, but only you can feel its true warmth.

The boys and I headed out for some time at Greenlake and Mockingbird Books. I had their silhouettes created from a silhouette artist that was visiting Mockingbird Books. He cut the silhouettes and he did it in 90 seconds. It was amazing. A gift for myself.

There is a new restaurant in town--Patty's Eggnest! While not new to Seattle, it is new to Northgate and we are happy to welcome them to our neighborhood. On this gorgeous Fall day we headed out for breakfast and some playground time. We headed home and enjoyed a double nap-strike and Ty in total destroyer mode. That is how it works. :)

19mos! Ty is such a funny kid! He just goes--head first, loudly, and with so much enthusiasm. All he wants to do is "pay" or have a "ba" which right now means bottle, popsicle, ball, or brother. He asks where Daddy is at least ten times a day and he and Ben are playing together more and more. We can tell Ty idolizes Ben already. These two make quite the pair.

"Get it?"--Ben has been using this phrase quite a bit lately after telling us something. For instance, "mom you forgot my milk, get it?" or "I think we should go to the playground, get it?" We are not sure where this sassy phrase comes from(maybe telling jokes a lot lately?), but we laugh knowing it too shall pass and there is a new phrase/phase coming.

We did celebrate Christmas, just not many pictures to show for it on my camera. They are on Nana's camera. We traveled to Spokane for the holiday and got to spend some wonderful time with my family. Ben literally hopped around the house the entire time with excitement and Ty crawled around in search of his toys and wrapping paper. Once we returned to Seattle we got to gather with the Heidergotts for some fun family time. December left my family and friend tank quite full.

Rockefeller Center

I was lucky enough to sneak away to NYC early in Dec. with my mom and cousin. We invaded Uncle's apartment and had a BLAST! Eat, Drink, Shop, and repeat--with a Rockettes show in the mix. NYC was beautiful and the weekend was fantastic.

This first picture blows me away--can't believe that little man next to me is 3?!!!!! He looks so grown up and he is. We started the "his age plus one"(or plus two in our case :) friend party and Ben definitely enjoyed his friends, cake, and playtime. I was a bit distracted so I didn't manage to get photos of all of his friends--but thank you Kendall, Colin, Ryder, Matt, and Owen for making Ben's 3rd birthday so special!

We hopped on board the Santa Train this last weekend, we loved it! The train was decorated, a very sweet older gentleman sang Christmas songs to all of us, the boys visited with Santa, we ate cookies and drank hot cocoa, they had heaters for our brief wait in line...

I would highly recommend this to those who enjoy trains and/or Santa!

Ty is mobile! I try to look at it positively--I'll need to get more creative. Ty is heavy, funny and hungry most of the time. If not eating food he is trying to eat Ben's toys, which Ben loves. ;) He has the "cheeto nose," more and more blonde hair, and he is maintaining those hanging, chubby, adorable cheeks.

We started an Advent Calendar with Ben this year--a mix of small little treats, books, and experiences along the way. As we were going to be seeing Santa soon, Ben woke up to a special hot cocoa cup and some special Santa letter paper. His letter was more of an introduction of himself. We've avoided "the list" for one more year, we hope!

October 26th we lost Ben and Ty's dear Grandpa Kurt. We knew this was coming, but there is no extra time that prepares anyone for a loss as great as this. The day before Kurt passed he and Ben had their normal conversations...Kurt telling Ben how to make something work better, Ben showing Grandpa his new stuffed elephant, and then Grandpa telling Ben that this new elephant could be the brother of Daddy's childhood stuffed elephant Pinky. Ben really liked that idea. Kurt got to know Ben and Ty very well and for that we are very thankful. This last weekend was Grandpa's memorial and it was perfect. Thank you to everyone for their support, presence, well wishes, cards, phone calls, thoughts and prayers over the last seven years and throughout these last few weeks.

It's Pumpkin Patch time of year...so we headed out to The Farm at Swan's Trail in Snohomish. We met up with the Virnig family and watched Ben and Matt enjoy the animals, pumpkins, puddles, and grass. The boys loved it all.

Preschool started today and was a smashing success. Ben saw a school bus pass our house today as we were loading up for our trip to preschool. He got excited about the school bus and asked if he was going to go on it for school?! I told him not yet and he replied "aahhhhhh, why not momma?" Right now I want to drive him to school for the rest of his life, but we'll work through that later.

From what Ben has told us he got to play on the playground, play trains, sing school bus songs, eat a snack(apples, his "fravrit"), and play with Nick and Matts.

I did well, no tears shed, just happy he likes it and proud of my little guy.

Ty is 6mos.! The stats: 16.3lbs and 26 3/4in

High-pitched babbling, lots of rolling and reaching, and an incredible amount of eating! I'm concerned about our future Costco bills. There isn't a lot of sleep happening at night, but I've given up figuring out what it is and just figure he will sleep through the night someday. I pray before he is two.

We made a serious trek to California this month and it was awesome! We spent three days at Lake Tahoe with the Bayers(Kelley, Eddy and Ryan) and then a few days at their house and visiting my Aunt Mary. It was such a treat to be able to spend time, actual time as in long conversations and lots of laughs, with Kel. I miss her dearly.

My new thing is no text, just pictures, but I had to add a quick update. Ben's eyes are functioning excellently--post-surgery checkup with the surgeon today. During one test Ben saw a bunny...the orthoptist asked what the bunny was doing? Ben said "i eat bunnies." I panic and then figure it out--Ben's favorite snack is Annie's fruit snacks, bunny shaped, and affectionately called "bunnies."

Ty is 4mos., 14 1/2 lbs, and is happy being able to stick out his tongue!

It is hard to get both boys together for a picture!

Ty is 10 weeks today and doing very well. He sleeps fabulously(again, still knocking on wood) and smiles and coos all the time now. He is wonderfully chubby. He actually enjoys tummy time and the bath now. The majority of "he looks like" goes to my dad. He is extremely tongue tied and will be having a quick procedure for that in a few weeks. His eyes are a beautiful blue--Priest Lake in the summer blue.
